What's love got to do?

I'll just cut to the chase. I'm a black sheep. [the song lyrics are hard to get away from] But that doesn't mean I can't talk to the one(s) who watch me like a hawk and try to turn them to the light side. The side where LOVE means skipping "Im sorry" and just talking to the one that misses you.

The Secret Garden is a beautiful story of a young orphan who teams up with a self-absorbed rich kid to bring beauty back to life. In the process they learn a rich lesson in the beauty of love and family and turning from your negative feelings toward redemption and making their world richer. The old gardener said the most haunting phrase. "Where you tend a rose, a thistle cannot grow." That doesn't mean there will never be thistles or weeds or unwanted faults. It means that those issues of fault will not take root and forever affect the life of that which is best in this world.

Again I turn to the world application- indeed, I turn to the family who does not love us as much as we love them and would wish to fellowship with them. I turn to the daughters or sons who are just one email or call or text away from having their family in their lives... but who have allowed anger and misunderstanding to take root. You know you want to be part of your father's life. You know it grieves you to feel bitterness toward your family. BE part of your father's life. Share what you CAN with your family. Where you focus on his love and providence you will stop seeing a twisted past and you will stop feeling the painful pricks of the barb and thorn. I, for one, would love to get to know you and have dinner with you and meet the rest of the family. It would be a joy to finally see your life become more whole by putting back a missing piece you have hidden from it. What's love got to do with it? Only everything... or at least the most of what you will make of it.
