Glass Houses

Updated: Mar 5, 2024

A wise woman told me recently not to try to fix things that are not mine to fix. Im a lymphatic therapist. I fix bodies and have a huge enough heart to listen to a world of problems and only advise when needed. Dealing with bodies and relationships well can give people in the service industry a bit of a God complex. Ya know? After seeing the relief of peoples faces you want to help with more and more things, including every aspect of their life that might contribute to healing.

Some aspects of healing, though, are outside of my scope of practice. I can point a person in the right the direction but I can't prescribe medication and I can't fix everything. I can't FIX the bond between people with good intentions- especially between parents and their children. What has worked with my kids will not work with all kids. What I would respond well to as a recommendation is not going to be received well by everyone.

It has been a learning process, but even when the temptation to fight for what I think is best is serving itself on a silver platter, I must respect the boundaries of my scope of practice.

That being said.... if it affects my life; marriage; or mental health, it is my business. If someone keeps coming to my place of business seeking information and/or help within my scope, I can and WILL give it to them. If a person does not wish to have what I openly offer, they should shop somewhere else. And if/when a person is angered by something they see that is innocent, the fault is with the perception and interpretation. Not all that triggers a hard-to-please person is wrong; for a prepossessive heart is the catalist of many faulty perceptions and judgements. Just love them anyway and take the moral high ground.

Happy Birthday to my husband's daughter. May you grow to know our love and support; and may you learn to reach out with compassion where you can.

I find as we age, we DO become wiser (I didn’t really say that did I?) and you are right! As a provider wanting to help people heal, I have to tread carefully with my words… I can get caught up in wanting to help, but also know I need help too!! (Most of the time I think there is no help for me!) I do not have all the answers, only my own experience and knowledge to share, and that’s all I have left! You are a beautiful woman and I am so grateful to have had you allllll these years to help me heal in many ways. I hope you know YOU make a difference every day!! (Me?…

Replying to

Huge. You do so much more than you realize, love, especially as an example. The occasional problem solving involving lit tweezers and daft kid's noses helps too. Lol FYI I owe you lunch.
